Maria Muzdybaeva is a writer, journalist, and translator.


In her work, she is broadly concerned with (de-)construction of personal narratives and with the idea of fluid identity. She is particularly interested in exploring the moments of change, from radical shifts to gradual and elusive transformations.

As a journalist, Maria mostly reports on visual artsthis subject seeps into her creative writing, where she looks for new ways to bring different art forms together.

Maria holds an MA degree in European & Russian Studies from Yale University, where her research was focused on Comparative Literature and Film, and a BA from Saint Petersburg State University, where she studied translation.
