Maria Muzdybaeva is a writer, journalist, and translator.


In her current work, she is broadly concerned with the issues of personal and collective memory and responsibility, and the convergence of the political and the private. 

As a journalist, Maria mostly reports on film and visual artsthis interest seeps into her creative writing, where she looks for new ways to bring different art forms together.

Maria holds an MA degree in European & Russian Studies from Yale University, where her research was focused on Comparative Literature and Film, and a BA from Saint Petersburg State University, where she studied translation.
